Most importantly our trainees should have good personal management and communication skills, should be suited toworking offshore, and have shown previous experience and interest in the marine environment. Teamwork, enthusiasm, and an aptitude for working away for long periods of time are also essential.
To date, the Offshore Marine Academy operates as a regional programme, attracting trainees between 18 and 25 years old from the South West of England. The Academy aims to offer the programme to other UK regions within the next few years.
Our trainees are accepted into the Academy, they are paid a reasonable wage, offered accomodation, and have all of their external courses paid for. The Academy aims to make the programme available where possible to people with all different financial circumstances. If any concerns of varying nature are raised by trainees over the course of the programme, the Academy makes it it’s policy to react accordingly.
Trainees are asked to be ‘medically fit’, while criminal record and previous history checks are carried out as standard.
